Past assignments

Here are some examples of assignment I have supported over the last two years. These include assignments of ag consulting as well as work I have carried out on behalf for NIACE ‘s ICT and Learning Team, LSN’s Support for Success and CEL’s EQUIP programmes.

• Working intensively with two principals in adult education in bringing about improvements in leadership a management and the quality of provision after an initial unsatisfactory ALI inspection. Both organisations have been successfully re-inspected and achieved a grade 2 for leadership and management and grade 3 for quality improvement.

• Working as an interim head of service for a local authority adult education service as well as providing some mentor support for the newly appointed vice principal.

• Supporting four ACL providers in the East of England with setting up, implementing and evaluating peer review in order to improve their capacity for self-regulation. This includes facilitation, the running on workshops on different questioning techniques, appreciative inquiry, and professional dialogue as well as sharing of best practice.

• Supporting at least 25 organisations with self-assessment and improvement planning, in some cases as part of an LSC local support package as well as supporting a number of other providers with training on RARPA (including paperless options)and observation skills as well as with developing moderation arrangements and overall quality improvement strategies and policies.

• Supporting a number of curriculum managers and tutors on a one-to-one basis with developing their skills.

• Carrying out a mock inspection on the languages provision of one provider.

• Working with about eight ACL and VCS providers on developing their ILT strategies. This included facilitating visioning meetings with senior management teams.

• Writing a report for a local authority which outlined possible options for their provision of adult and community learning.

• Working with a Voluntary and Community Sector Consortium on introducing VCS providers to the Common Inspection Framework and self-assessment including collecting and analysing valid, reliable and sufficient data to form the basis for evaluative judgements on provision as well as working with individual providers on individual areas of improvement.

• Working as a coaching facilitator on the subject learning coaches programme.

• Supporting practitioners with the writing of resources for QIA’s resources for improving learning and teaching in Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) in ACL as well as writing resources myself and delivering a workshop on differentiation, excerpts of which are now part of the resources available on the web in the Putting it into practice part at:

  www.qiaresources4adultlearning.net/cpd/mfl/differentiationactivity.htm

• Delivering some MFL specific training around the use of technologies, differentiation and creativity.

• Writing and developing an online Quality Improvement Toolkit, this is being used by some ACL and VCS providers and has received praise in a re-inspection.
